Lifelong Learning Programme With the support of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union

Local Workshop in the UK

The UK local workshop, which was organised and managed by the British Science Association’s Education team, was successfully completed on the 17th April 2015. With extensive experience in formal and informal science education, the team drew upon their on-going programmes and initiatives (including CREST, British Science Week and the National Science, and Engineering Competition) to encourage participants in the day.

The day was generally an opportunity to share teaching practices and ideas around the theme of ‘Sustainable Cities’. Teachers attending were asked to prepare a brief 3-minute presentation with slides and examples from their teaching. This enabled sharing of good practice and ideas throughout the event.

The event also featured resources and projects that the teachers could find out about or get involved with. Teachers were motivated to explore and try further new approaches when they return to their schools, and feedback was collected on barriers and opportunities around such approaches.

You can see the full report (pdf) from the day and the workshop in pictures (pdf). The full programme can be found here (pdf).
